Marion provides a range of mental health promotion, prevention, counseling, and psychological services to support the behavioral health of students and promote success in the learning process. School personnel serve as liaisons who can help students and their caregivers identify the supports and services available to improve their academic success and well-being. At Marion, these services are part of a framework that incorporates Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) as well as Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS). These work to work build positive mental and behavioral health for all students (Tier 1, universal supports); provide early interventions to small groups of students who need additional supports (Tier 2); and individual interventions provided to students demonstrating persistent challenges (Tier 3).
Mental health service providers, our student support team are a critical part of the district’s whole child framework. School counselors, school psychologists and the school social worker each have unique and important roles in supporting Marion students.
The Marion Central School District partners with WBHN to provide our students and families with additional opportunities to access support services. WBHN is a comprehensive outpatient mental health and addiction treatment agency, serving adults, children and adolescents in Wayne County.
