Learn to Code

Suitable for All Ages

There are so many ways to learn to code!

MCS Elementary students have been introduced to coding in Makerspace using Dash and Dot. Here are ways to continue to learn.

The Hour of Code website provides ways to continue that learning through fun activities. Students can learn block coding, JavaScript, CSS, HTML and more! There is quite a range of activities but can be hard to know where to start.

If you are new to Hour of Code the activities that follow are good starting points. Pre-readers and young learners will need assistance to start.

No logins or accounts are required for these activities.

Going Further - Coding with Scratch

Scratch is a programming environment developed by MIT. It is both easy to use, and incredibly feature-rich so that quite complex projects can be created!

For these tutorials, you do not need to create a Scratch account. But if you want to continue to use Scratch, you will need to set one up. Students, talk with your parents and work together to set up an account. Parents, here is information for you from Scratch.
