Let’s remain a Connected Community, have a little remote fun together, and take on the weekly MCS Community Challenge!!!
Hey MCS community! Have we got a challenge for you! And this challenge is for all students, families, and staff! One of our core values is Connected Community and we want to stay connected even during a time of remote learning. To help keep us connected and to give us some common fun to share in, we are excited to launch…
Each week we will invite the entire MCS community to participate in a fun challenge. The week’s challenge will be posted on Instagram and on the Enrichment Resource page under the MCS Challenge tile. The challenge will be different each week and, if you want to join in the fun, which we hope you do, here’s how it will work.
Watch the weekly challenge video.
Record a short video of your family accepting and conquering the challenge.
Post your family’s video on your own Instagram page and tag @MarinersChristianSchool with the hashtag #MCSCommunityChallenge. If you do post on Instagram, post it to your story but please also post it to your page/feed. This will come in handy when we gather the various family challenge videos together for a great compilation video that will be shared with the community.
You can also email a (no more than) 15 second video clip with a highlight of your family completing the challenge to MCSchallenge@marinerscs.org.
We will gather your Instagram posts (as long as you’ve tagged us) and emailed videos and put them together into a weekly compilation video that will show the MCS community conquering the challenge together.
We will start the weekly challenge rhythm beginning Monday, March 23rd. Each Monday, a new challenge invite will be posted on Mariners Christian School’s Instagram and on the Enrichment Resource page under MCS Challenge. Families will have 5 days to complete the challenge and post it on their own Instagram (don’t forget to tag MCS) and/or email a 15 second highlight clip. Each family’s video must be posted/shared no later than Friday of the same week. The following Monday, when the next weekly challenge is launched, the previous week’s compilation video will be shared.
Let’s remain a Connected Community, have a little remote fun together, and take on the weekly MCS Community Challenge!!!
CAPTION THIS! This week’s MCS Challenge is a caption challenge! Choose one of the following photos, screenshot it, and submit it along with your caption to MCSchallenge@marinerscs.org. You can also comment a caption below. Make sure your caption is kind and creative! We can’t wait to see what you come up with!
The PTF Board has taken the initiative to lead out this week in the MCS Weekly Challenge! We would like to encourage all families to create a short video shout out (30 seconds or so) to those faculty and staff that care for your children. Send it directly to the teacher or staff person as an attachment (this is different from the other weekly challenges – this is an individual blessing, not a compilation.) We want to do a surprise attack directly to their email so they are loved on throughout the week! Our PTF Board families have created a special video to start the fun!
1 Thessalonians 5:11 says, “Therefore, encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing” and that is exactly what our MCS Community Challenge is for this week! God calls His people to be salt and light in the world and this week we are going to take on that challenge in our own neighborhoods! The challenge is to create an encouraging message, picture, or sign and display it in a front window or in your front yard. Your display can include a scripture verse, encouraging message, or even a prayer for all to see. The world always needs Jesus and right now they need to know who He is and what life with Him can bring. As people walk or drive by your house, they will read your sign and be encouraged with God’s love. In a simple but powerful way, we have an opportunity to share the hope and presence of God! For this challenge, a video is not needed. It is a picture challenge instead of a video challenge. Create your artistic and encouraging message, display it in a window or your front yard, take a picture, and post it on social media tagging @marinerschristianschool or email your picture to MCSchallenge@marinerscs.org. The Harrison family has taken on the encouragement challenge who else is in?
Thank you to everyone who participated!
Got a pet? Maybe more than one? Now’s your chance to show off the other members of your family!!! We’re making a Pets of MCS video and we want your pet represented. So whether it’s cute, cuddly, scaly, exotic, feathery, lazy, crazy, tiny, or huge…we want to see it!
Just take a quick video of you introducing your pet(s) and sharing some fun things about them. And bonus points if you can get them to do a cool trick!
To make sure we get your video, you can either:
Post the clip on your personal social media and tag Mariners Christian School, or
Email your pet video to MCSchallenge@marinerscs.org
Please post or send your video no later than this Friday, 4/24. At the end of the week, we will make a compilation Pets of MCS video so we can see what kind of creatures we have hiding in the homes of Mariners families!

Our first MCS Community Challenge will kick off Thursday, March 19. Check out Mariners Christian School’s Instagram for the challenge video invitation but this challenge is a Gratitude Challenge. If you accept this challenge, each MCS family will share one thing you are grateful for right now. We want to orient ourselves to the good that God is doing, the joy that is in our lives, and have a posture of gratitude just like Thessalonians 5:16-18 says, “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will.”
To accept and conquer this challenge, all you have to do is record a clip of your family sharing something you are all grateful for and share it with us following the instructions above. This first challenge will be a little shorter than those to come so that we can get on a weekly rhythm. Families joining the challenge need to complete the first challenge no later than Saturday, March 21st. We will share the MCS Community Challenge: Gratitude compilation video on Monday, March 23rd. Join us each week and start this week by sharing gratitude and giving thanks in all circumstances!!!!
We are Grateful!
