Award Information:

• Award Process:

  • A competitive process will be used to distribute a total of $40,000 in funding over eight (8) teams. All responses answering the minimum requirements laid out in the Application Information section will be scored by a review committee selected by the EPIIC team. Applicants are required to include a detailed scope of work and a detailed budget report in their RFA (Request for Application). NMC reserves the right to determine the number of awards for each grant cycle based on the funds available and the projects selected.

• Spending Time Frames:

  • All funding received must be spent by May 8, 2026. All awardees are required to present a mid-progress report, a final report, and two expenditure reports, each one accompanying a mid-progress report and a final report, on project activities. Please see the Reporting Requirements section (number 4 of the Award Administration section) for more details.

• In-Kind Support:

  • If your project has a source of outside funding or in-kind support, you will be required to disclose this information in your application.

  • The following may be considered as examples of in-kind support:

    • Equipment, office supplies, workshop or classroom materials, workspace, classroom space, or training materials

    • The monetary value of time contributed by professional and technical personnel and other skilled and unskilled labor if the services they provide are an integral and necessary part of the unfunded project

      • NOTE: The value placed on loaned or donated equipment may not exceed its fair rental value. The value placed on donated services must be consistent with the rate of compensation paid for similar work in the organization or the labor market. Fringe benefits may be included.

    • Professional services valued at fair market value

Funding Uses:

• Funding should be used to support new research projects or to expand current research projects.

• Funding may be used for:

  1. Project materials and supplies

  2. Student experiential stipends

  3. Project-relative travel expenses

  4. Professional development

• Funding may not be used for:

  1. Salaries and benefits for faculty and staff

  2. Student tuition

  3. Compensation for community partners

  4. Equipment over the value of five thousand dollars ($5,000)

• Funding requests are subject to review and approval by the review committee.
