Central idea: Maintaining peace and resolving conflict can help humans to live harmoniously.
We have started our second line of inquiry which looks at the effects of conflicts. The conflict that we are focusing on is the First World War. The children have been really interested in the daily life of a WWI soldier in the trenches and have been really empathetic towards their circumstances. They have added to this by making trenches at the Father's Day event.
In writing, we have written diary entries and a letter home to a family member from the trenches. The children have focused on using relative clauses, commas, dashes and brackets in their writing as well as lots of other writing skills. They have worked really hard on their letters and they should all be really proud of how well the letters read and of all the skills they have used in them.
In maths, the children have focused on addition and subtraction methods before moving on to addition and subtraction with decimals.
