Central idea: Personal choices can impact the environment.
We have been using the text '10 things I can do to help my world' by Melanie Walsh to further understand how our personal choices can impact the environment. This week we have focused on line of inquiry 1: 'an inquiry into different things that can affect the environment'.
Henry said: "It is important to keep your electrical things off when you are not using them to save electricity."
Rudi said: "We don't have to throw things in the bin we can use them to build with afterwards."
Millie said: "I will turn off the tap when I am brushing my teeth to save water."
Jos said: "Food waste is collected in different bins then taken to a place where they turn it into electricity and stuff to make the farmers fields better to help them to grow more fruit and vegetables for us all."
Maxwell said: "I helped the world by picking up some litter. I saw a whole bag full of litter left on the floor when we took my sister to school, it made me sad."
The children used what they knew to create posters on how we can help the world.
Willow-Rose: We have called our pet snail Bobby.
Max: Bobby needs water. He is hot.
Willow: We have to look after the animals in our environment too. Animals are important.
Reminders:
As the weather gets warmer, please ensure all children have a water bottle everyday as well as a hat.
