Oak & Juniper Learning Update

Central idea: People communicate to share knowledge and experiences.

First of all, we would like to say a massive well done to Early Years and Key Stage One on their phenomenal nativity efforts! We are incredibly proud of each and every one of you, the confidence the children displayed was a delight to see. Well done everyone!

Over the past couple of weeks, we spent time learning about Diwali. After watching a video clip, Flora could tell us that Diwali was celebrated in India. The children used rice and lentils to create their own rangoli patterns. Esme: I love the colours they are pretty." We listened to Indian music and drew artwork based on how this made us feel. When asked what the children thought about the music Albie said: "It was slow and calm" which was clear in his artwork, he had long lines with small loops running through it. Freya said: It makes me feel calm and happy." Cameron said: "I want to go to India" which many other children responded "me too". We have been working on making our own diva lamps out of clay. While speaking about Diwali, Isaac said: "It's a festival of lights".

The children were very excited to share their stories of their fun in the snow on the Tuesday of the following week. We had great fun outdoors in our wellies, playing in the snow with friends for part of our lunchtime. What an exciting second module we have had. The children have shown such determination in their learning and are becoming such wonderful learners.

Have a great break, we are looking forward to seeing you all again on Thursday 5th January.

Merry Christmas! :)
