2Sequoia Learning Update

Central idea: Artforms can be used to express ideas and feelings

This module has certainly given us many opportunities to express our ideas and feelings through music, storytelling & narrative writing, abstract art, dance, drama, collage and textiles. Children have loved our journey through the expressive arts with our learning through and from Wassily Kandinsky, Peter and the Wolf and our wonderful Nativity production. We have designed our sock puppets and explored how to join fabric together by learning to sew running stitch... I'm sure you are all excited to see our finished results! We are hoping to be able to use our puppets to retell the story of Peter and the Wolf.

In maths, we have been exploring the properties of 2D & 3D shape - children have applied their knowledge in order to identify 2D shapes according to the number of sides and vertices as well as draw the shapes with a good level of accuracy. We have also enjoyed finding symmetry across a vertical line in shapes, which you may like to continue exploring at home and in your walks or journeys outdoors.
