Central idea: The appreciation of artforms can be determined by the individual.
Year 5 have had a very busy two weeks!
In English, the children have been busy crafting imaginative setting descriptions, skilfully using prepositional phrases and expanded noun phrases to bring their writing to life. They also produced well-researched biographies of artists, applying their knowledge of pronouns to write with clarity.
In Maths, we have successfully wrapped up our work on multiplying and dividing by 10, 100, and 1000, using our place value knowledge to support us. We have now moved on to fractions, working hard to find equivalent fractions by drawing on our times tables knowledge.
Science lessons have been full of discovery, as pupils explored air resistance and water resistance through hands-on experiments—including designing and testing their very own parachutes!
In Art, the children created beautiful bird drawings inspired by Kathryn Callaghan’s artwork, while in Inquiry they delved into Mayan symbolism and architecture, making fascinating connections across subjects.
Year 5 have begun preparing for their year group assembly, and have even started practicing their carol service song!
