Central idea: Artforms can be used to express ideas and feelings.
This week we completed our second line of inquiry which focuses on the role of art in culture and society and how these art forms can be used to express ourselves. The children were able to participate in an immersive ballet lesson this week hosted by a local ballet school. Here the children extended their already expansive knowledge of ballet exploring the Nutrcaker scenes before participating in a choreographed scene taken from the book. We were really impressed with how engaged the children were and hope they were able to showcase some of the ballet steps for you at home!
In writing this week, the children are planning and writing a letter to the Nutcracker, we hope that this rich ballet experience makes their writing come alive with some lovely rich vocabulary.
In maths we have been looking at equal and unequal groups. The children have been able to recognise, make and add equal groups. This links with the practice we have been doing during our school day with the 2, 5 and 10 times tables.
