Central idea: Cultural identity can be expressed through creativity.
The children have been deepening their understanding of cultural identity by exploring the Hindu festival Makar Sankranti and comparing it with our own upcoming celebration of Christmas. They have enjoyed identifying the traditions found within both festivals and noticing similarities and differences between them. As part of this learning, the children have also examined a range of Christmas artefacts and discussed how certain traditions may have changed over time.
In mathematics, the children have now learnt all of their times tables and are working hard to practise and strengthen their fluency and recall. The children have also been developing their ukulele skills as they begin preparing for their upcoming musical performance. Their enthusiasm during practice has been fantastic, and they are excited to share their progress with you in a couple of weeks.
