Central idea: Our likes and dislikes make us who we are.
We enjoyed looking for the bird from our core text. Many children found feathers which prompted them to think the bird was nearby.
Hudson: Look up! We may see a birds nest in the trees.
Rowan: I think this looks like the lion house. Let's knock and see if he is at home.
The children spent time perfecting their fine motor skills through creating the Lion out of salt dough. They cut, and rolled, and pinched the dough, using pictures from the story to inspire them.
Oratilwe - The dough feels so sticky, so I can stick eyes and a mane on my lion.
Eslie Y - Lions are yellow and mostly scary but our lion is friendly.
Asher - I mixed up the dough to make our lions.
Evelina - My lion is very big and he is best friends with Deanna's lion.
Otis: I like planting and watching the flowers grow.
Eleanor: I like planting and growing too. We both like the same thing.
We have spent time looking at the characters interests and then looking at our own. The children have discovered that many children share the same interest which has led to many new friendships being made.
Luna: I love animals. I love all of the animals.
Alice: I love looking after animals and caring for animals and making them happy.
One EYFS interest is our shared love of animals.
