2021 BOYS & GIRLS LEAGUE CHAMPIONS
Due to Covid 19 the entire 2020 Spring Track season was CANCELLED.
In the Fall of 2020 Mapleton chose to opt out of the Fall Football season and opted to participate in the Spring Football season. This DELAYED the start of the 2021 Track season until late April instead of late February. This also meant that instead of the season ending in early May, the season would have to go into mid June, AFTER all of our seniors had already graduated.....

The Boys' 4th League Championship was something special.
Unfortunately our talented Seniors Class of 2020 did not get a chance to run their senior year and defend their 2019 League Title. I think it taught us all, athletes and coaches, to appreciate and take advantage of the experiences that we are not guaranteed.
The 2021 Boys came back and did just that- they appreciated and took advantage of the moment. The boys battled the heat, fought through a Covid testing and protocols all Spring and on June 11, 2021 the boys made it a dominating 4-PEAT at Mountain Range High School!
This was the VERY FIRST League Championship by any Girls Team in Skyview History!
This was a very special group of Ladies. They too, had to battle weekly Covid testing and the heat deep into the Summer, but what I think was most impressive about this group was the Senior Leadership and the tone that they set.
Because the season went into the Summer, all of our Seniors were already graduated! They continued to come to every hot, summer practice even though their classes were over, they had already received their diploma and were working their Summer jobs. Their relentless determination paid off and on June 11, 2021 the Girls won their very first ever League Championship @ Mountain Range High School!
2019 BOYS LEAGUE CHAMPIONS
The League Championship was won at Riverdale Ridge High School on May 4, 2019.
The 2019 Championship was an absolute thriller that was fought for tooth and nail with a little luck along the way. With the Seniors who paved the previous two championships now graduated this team turned to its new, young talent to answer the call.
Conifer had an outstanding distance team and that year the League decided to run the 3200 meter (2 mile) as the first event to avoid the heat...Conifer finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd. However, that is a very energy taxing race and they had the same idea that we had- spread your athletes out across four events to maximize your points. Our athletes are used to running 4 events every meet, there's were not. Our distance runners were able to break up their 1600 (1 mile) dominance and crushed them in the 800 (1/2 mile).

2018 BOYS LEAGUE CHAMPIONS
The League Championship was won at Fort Lupton High School on May 5, 2018.
Getting over the hump in 2017 laid the foundation and paved the road for 2018. Coming back with a now Senior heavy team, defending the banner was the only thing on their minds.
This team never blinked. Their were multiple individual and relay team records broken along the way with multiple State Qualifiers.
Unlike the year before, there was a mutual understanding- it did not need to be asked, it was just expected, that we were going for another banner! This team took the track with only one thing on their minds- BACK to BACK. They put up a dominating 184.5 Team points, besting the 2nd place Weld Central Rebels by 47.5 points to win their 2nd League Title.

2017 BOYS LEAGUE CHAMPIONS
The League Championship was won at Englewood High School on May 6, 2017.
The boys had finished 3rd in Team standings the year before behind Elizabeth and Fort Morgan. However, it was a very scrappy performance by a sophomore heavy team.
In 2017 the now Junior heavy team, along with key Seniors and Sophomores, put up a dominate performance scoring 161.5 points, overcoming rivals Fort Morgan and Weld Central.
On the Monday practice before League the coaches gathered the boys together to let them know the situation we were in. We could put them all in their very best individual and team events and give them a shot at medals OR we could strategically put them where it benefited the team points most and see if we could chase a League banner. With out hesitation it was a unanimous, "League Banner."
