COACH REFFEL
1984-PRESENT
Coach Reffel has been the Head Coach of the Skyview Track program since its opening in 1989 and was also the Head Coach at Mapleton High School before they merged with Highland High School. He began as the Head Coach of the Girls team in 1989 and took over both the Boys and Girls in 1991. He currently oversees all events, but focuses on sprinters.
Coach Reffel has been named the Colorado League COACH OF THE YEAR for the last 4 seasons!
In his 32 years as Skyview's head coach, he has had countless All-Conference athletes, countless State Qualifiers and has had three State Champions.
Coach Reffel went to Mapleton High School from 1970-1974 where he played football, ran track, and wrestled. He was an All-Conference athlete in football and track, an All-State football player and a State Qualifier in the 100, 200, and 4x200 relay. Coach Reffel earned a football scholarship to Western State University.
COACH KEMM
1998- Present
Coach Kemm has been a part of the Skyview Track program since 1998. He currently coaches the Long, Triple and High Jump. Coach Kemm has coached many jumpers into the State Finals, most currently in 2017. Coach Kemm is also the Skyview Head Girls Basketball Coach.
Coach Kemm went to Mapleton High School and Skyview from 1987-1991 where he played football, basketball, and ran track. He was an All-Conference athlete in every sport, a 3-time State Qualifier in the high jump 4x100, 4x200, 4x400 and a State Placer (4th) in the High Jump in 1990. Coach Kemm held the Skyview High Jump record with a height of 6'4 until it was broken by Pat Hammer (later tied by Steve Townley and Rafeal Mendoza), whom he coached. Coach Kemm won the Al Hower Outstanding Male Athlete Award in 1991.
Coach Kemm was coached by Coach Reffel and coached Coach Stecklein (2006-2007) and Coach Lane (2010-2013) when they were in highschool.
Coach Kemm proudly served in the United States Navy from 1993-2001.
COACH MCCOY
2018-PRESENT
Coach McCoy has been a part of the Skyview Track program since 2018. She currently coaches the Shot and Discus. In 2021 Coach McCoy coached Bahati Nibindu to a State Championship in the Shot Put; the first State Champion since Isabel Mendoza in 2002.
Coach McCoy went to Skyview from 1992-1996 where she played volleyball, basketball, and was a thrower in track. She was an All-Conference athlete in every sport, a 4-time State Qualifier in shot put, a State Placer (3rd) in 1996 and she is still the Skyview Record Holder in the shot put with a distance of 39'03 in 1996. Coach McCoy won the Al Hower Outstanding Female Athlete Award in 1996.
The McCoy family roots run deep in Skyview History. She is the sister of Derek McCoy who also ran for Skyview Track and Field and played football at CU and she is the Aunt of Alex McCoy who ran for Skyview Track and Field from 2017-2018 and ran at Western State University like her Aunt.
Coach McCoy threw in college at Western State University on a full-ride scholarship and went to Nationals her junior year.
COACH STECKLEIN
2011-PRESENT
Coach Stecklein is teacher at GLA and has been a part of the Skyview Track program since 2011-2012. He has coached shot put, sprinters, hurdles, distance and relays in that time and he currently coaches sprinters, hurdlers and relays. He also coached football from 2011-2021 and is still currently the Strength and Conditioning coach during the Winter and Summer seasons.
Coach Stecklein went to Skyview from 2003-2007 where he played football, baseball, wrestled and ran track. He was a 2 time All-Conference athlete in Track and an All-State athlete in Football. Coach Stecklein and his teammates held the 4x400 relay record until it was broken in 2018 by Butler, Vigil, Casas, Woods, whom he coached. Coach Stecklein won the Al Hower Outstanding Male Athlete of the Year Award in 2007.
Coach Stecklein played football at Colorado State University and was a strength and conditioning coach with Rocky Mountain High School, the Denver Nuggets and Los Angeles Dodgers before returning to Mapleton.

COACH MORROW
2023
Dustin Morrow teaches middle school at Adams City Middle School. Previously, Coach Morrow taught dual-credit English for Snyder High School through Western Texas College, where he also coached basketball and track.
Coach Morrow earned degrees from Austin College, Texas Woman’s University, and Baylor University. His coaching credentials also include head coaching duties at Middle Park and Estes Park and assistant coaching duties at Gentry High School in Indianola, Mississippi, North Side High School in Fort Worth, Texas, and Waco High School in Waco, Texas.
Morrow has been fortunate enough to coach many talented athletes since 2003, including several state champions, numerous regional and state qualifiers, and many district and league champions. From Olympians and world-record holders to D1 athletes to JV kids looking to be a part of something, Coach Morrow loves helping student-athletes exceed their expectations. A Teach For America alum, Morrow tries to follow in the words of his hero, Jackie Robinson, “A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives.”
COACH McBRIDE
2023
Arvada West High School Graduate and Graduate of Colorado State University. Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).
Coached Arvada West football from 2011-2015, 2017-2021 where he coached defensive line and linebackers and was the head JV coach. Coached at Golden High School in 2016 as the Linebacker coach and the head JV coach.
Coached Shot and Discus at Arvada West from 2013-2016, 2018-2021. Had one thrower qualify for state in back to back years placing as high as 6th, earning 2nd team all state honors, and had throwers finish top 3 in league with one being league champion in shotput and another earning honorable mention all league. 3 throwers have moved on to compete at the collegiate level.

COACH LANE
2023
Coach Lane has been a part of the Skyview Track program since 2023. She is currently coaching the distance team.
Coach Lane went to Skyview from 2009-2013 where she ran cross country, played basketball and ran track. She was an All-Conference athlete in all three sports and won Female Athlete of the Year for the Colorado 7 League in 2013. Coach Lane still holds the 1600 meter (1 mile), 3200 meter (2 mile), and 4x800 school records for Skyview, which she broke in 2013. Coach Lane won the Al Hower Outstanding Female Athlete of the Year Award in 2013.
