Welcome to McLaughlin Middle School!
I will be your son/daughter's case manager this year. This will be my 20th year teaching at McLaughlin Middle School and I am very excited to work with your family! I will be posting updates on my website almost weekly as to what we have been working on. Ms. Chantall will be the paraprofessional working with the students this year. I will be their teacher for Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, and Science. They will be in general education classes for WINN and their Allied Arts. Grading in middle school is 25% for formative assessments (class participation, class work, etc.) and 75% for summative assessments (test, quizzes, projects, etc.).
The quickest, easiest, and fastest way to reach me is through email slandry@mansd.org. I always welcome phone calls as well, but I am in class with the kids and can not always get to the phone. At any time if you feel you need a meeting please let me know. We can do a meeting in person or virtually, whichever you prefer.

I will send more information about this when we start to have bad weather. I promise I will make it a smooth and productive learning experience!
iReady Reading & Math
iReady reading & math is done two days per week school wide during WINN. I also have my students work on it once a week in language arts and math class. Each week the two students who have the most time and lessons passed in math and reading get their choice of a prize. Every student gets a reward every twenty five lessons passed- the rewards get better at each level! The kids are always welcome to do extra lessons at home.

Tips To Help Your Middle Schooler Be Successful
Getting a good night’s sleep is so important!. Please make sure that electronics are away at bedtime so the kids get all the rest their growing bodies and minds need.
Keep extra stuff that can distract students from their work at home.
Please make sure that I have an updated email address. I will send out weekly updates.
Clean out backpacks periodically.
Sign up for an ASPEN account- This is the grading system that is used in all the middle and high schools in Manchester.
