Monthly meeting of Self-advocates on 16 January 2023
Self-advocates of Manbhavan Mitr Mandali met on Zoom with their parents on 16 January 2023. The target was to motivate each other’s parents for their independent traveling. Self-advocates who are not confident in traveling shared their feelings and their parents also shared why they don’t feel safe to send them alone. Mrs Indira Alok gave wonderful tips on how to build confidence among self-advocates and their parents. At the end of the meeting, they planned for a short trip where a few self-advocates would guide others who were not able to travel independently. Let's encourage them and wish them luck.

Six self-advocates met in Manovikas on 28 January 2023. They were given training on traveling like how to cross roads, how to maintain safety in rikshaws, how to support each other as they have different kinds of disabilities, and how to handle money. Two of them were experts in traveling. They lead the trip. We are very happy to share that they successfully completed their mission with a big smile of satisfaction on their face. 🌈 #Accessibility Matters #InclusiveCommunity #
📅 We recently convened for our monthly meeting on May 11, 2024, where our dedicated self-advocates took center stage. Alongside our usual agenda, we delved into accessibility and inclusivity by reviewing some easy-to-read documents. 📝 These materials underwent thorough scrutiny as we discussed potential modifications to better serve the unique needs of our self-advocates. 💡
