Relationships and Sex Education

What is Relationship and Sex Education?

R.S.E. is lifelong learning about physical, sexual, moral and emotional development. It is about the understanding of the importance of stable and loving relationships, respect, love and care, for family life. Additionally, it involves acquiring information about to the physical aspects of growing up, having relationships, engaging in sex, and learning about human sexuality and sexual health.

In some circumstances, parents have the right to request for their child to be removed from certain elements of the R.S.E. sessions in school.  This does not mean the whole of P.S.H.E..

Students are legally entitled to request to attend their R.S.E. sessions once they reached three terms before they read the age of sexual consent (which is 16 years old).  They do not need their parents' permission to do so once they reach that stage and in year 11.

Students can speak to their tutor, the P.S.H.E. Coordinator or the Pastoral Office should they wish to discuss their right to attend R.S.E. sessions.

The following are examples of the various lesson presentations created using a range of professional sources as guided by the PSHE Association.

Each one is regularly checked and adapted to suit the needs of our students and the school timetable.

Sessions are delivered through a range of methods including via outside providers and performers.

All are evaluated to ensure our students are able to learn the valuable skills and information they need for their future pathways.
