Peer Mentors

The role of a Peer Mentor and Youth Health Champion is an incredibly important one, and is something that students can proudly look back as being a part of. We are looking for confident and creative students who are passionate about making a positive change to our school community. As a part of the team you will be expected to:

  • Take part in training exercises, so you are fully prepared for your role.

  • Deliver sessions to Year 7 or 8 forms on topics like drugs, bullying, relationships, etc.

  • Take an active part in delivering sessions on Focus Days to other students.

  • Spend at least one day a week in the library at breaktime and lunchtime to support Year 7 and 8 students.

  • Take part in projects designed to promote a particular idea/ value in school.

  • Be prepared that a lot of the work you do will be 'outside' of school hours, as you will not be given lesson time to prepare your own resources.

  • Work with anyone in the team (you may not always be paired with your best friend so be prepared).

The key role of the Peer Mentor is to provide support for Students in Years 7 and 8. This can be through informative sessions that you would deliver on PSHE type topics, or it could be providing support for individual students to want your help at breaktime or lunchtime.
