The Nurse of the Future will identify, evaluate, and use the best current evidence coupled with clinical expertise and consideration of patients’ preferences, experience and values to make practice decisions [Adapted from QSEN, 2007].
With the ever-changing healthcare world. Evidence based practice is the approach to healthcare that utilizes current research available to improve the quality of healthcare. This type of practice allows healthcare providers across many different continents to access and review the highest quality research to shape the delivery of care to our patients. This also allows us as nurses to approach clinical decision-making issues with tools from evidence-based practice. This gives us as nurses the confidence to make the tough decisions that we have to make with evidence to back up the knowledge. EBP allows us to give the best possible care available. The BSN program has enlightened my knowledge base on the value and need for continuing clinical education while applying the knowledge base from the evidence based practice.
