What is the initial consultation like?
The initial consultation is a phone call that lasts between 10-15 minutes. Once you have scheduled your appointment, I'll email you a consultation form with some basic questions that will give me a good idea of what you are looking to get out of therapy and what questions you'll want answered during our phone call. This is a phone session only and won't include video. You'll want to be sure you are in a private place during the call.
This call is not the time to share long details about what's bringing you in, but it is a planning and screening call. If we both think we will work well together, we'll schedule our first appointment, the initial diagnostic interview. This initial diagnostic interview is a 50 minute appointment and where I will spend more time hearing the details of your story.

From Main Street, you can turn onto Adams Street and find a gravel lot on the side of the house. If that lot is full, you can park along Main Street.

My hours are currently between 9-3 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I offer intensive sessions on Fridays or Saturdays, and occasionally offer online sessions outside of my normal office hours as needed.

I am a Christian and am involved in my local church. My faith does inform my worldview, and impacts my counseling in that way. How much faith or spirituality is brought into counseling is your decision. Some clients choose to have their spirituality heavily integrated into their therapy, and I am happy to pray and discuss Scripture when it is desired. Maybe you are a Christian but you want your counseling session to be focused on the other parts of your life. Some clients are not Christian and prefer not to have any mention of God or faith, and that is fine as well. I will respect your boundaries on what we talk about in session. I understand that many have been wounded by the church and/or religious people, so I also hope to provide a safe place to process through this pain in a nonjudgmental setting. While I am happy to integrate faith into counseling, if you are looking for solely spiritual guidance, I would like to refer you to a pastoral counselor or spiritual director as my specializations are in mental health and not theology.
