Ms. Emily Fleming

The Emily Fleming FBLA Business Award is named in honor of Emily Fleming, who had a strong interest in Accounting. Emily was very involved in her school and her community. She was a well-rounded person with a variety of interests. Emily excelled in Accounting and in business. She had the opportunity to use her accounting skills in her father’s accounting firm for about a year. The Emily Fleming FBLA Business Award acknowledges and honors a senior business student who is planning to continue her/his business education in college. It is awarded to a senior student who has a strong work ethic, an inquisitive mind, and accepts a challenge to problem solve when confronted with obstacles. This award also promotes a student with high integrity, a positive attitude, is a team-builder and community-minded.

2020 - 2021 Emily Fleming FBLA Business Award Recipient: Chad Gerig

Chad has been enrolled in business and technology classes during his time at SVHS. Chad has been active in sports here at SVHS. He is planning on going on to study business at college. Chad has been enrolled in Accounting, Business Basics, Web Design, Excel and more. He has excelled in all of the classes that he has taken. We feel that Chad has been well prepared to go onto the next level of business. Chad also became MOS certified this spring.

It is with great honor that we award this honor to Chad. Chad will be missed, but we wish him the best in his future business endeavors.

2018 - 2019 Emily Fleming FBLA Business Award Recipient: Misael Guterriez

Misael was a four year recipient of FBLA awards during his time here at SVHS. Misael took over the presidency of FBLA in his junior year and held the position until he graduated. During his time, FBLA was very active in competition and winning awards at the regional and state levels. Mitch was a great leader and demonstrated the potential for great leadership in his future endeavors. He took business and technology classes all four years. He was also earned a certification in MOS. Mitch is planning on majoring in Computer Science and is planning on eventually working at his father's business.

It is with great honor that we award this honor to Mitch. He was greatly respected here at SVHS and he will be missed. Good luck Mitch!

2017-2018 Emily Fleming FBLA Business Award Recipient: Chloe Overstreet

Chloe Overstreet was the second student to receive the Emily Fleming FBLA Business Award. Chloe had been involved in FBLA since her sophomore year in high school. She is one of the principle founders of FBLA at Stillman Valley, and served as Reporter all three years. She was also the adviser of the FBLA Marketing Committee all three years. Chloe was involved in the Business Department over her four years at SVHS, taking all of the business classes as well as computer classes. Chloe also earned her MOS certification in Microsoft Word.

Chloe was very active in FBLA as well as participated in Track at SVHS. She earned the first two levels of the BA Awards in FBLA (Future & Business) as well as earning the FBLA Community Service Award and the three year Officer award. Upon graduation, she was the first FBLA member to be presented with the FBLA Graduation stole.

Mr. Phil Diehl & Trevor Carlson

2016-2017 Emily Fleming FBLA Award Recipient: Trevor Carlson

Trevor Carlson was the first recipient of the Emily Fleming FBLA Business Award. Trevor has been involved in the SVHS Business Department over his four years here at SVHS, taking all of the business classes offered. Trevor wished that he had the opportunity to take more business classes at SVHS, but feels that he has been well prepared. "Thanks to those classes, my love of business has only grown stronger, which is why I am planning on majoring in either finance or international business when I go to college in the fall", stated Trevor.

Trevor also played a key roll in bringing FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) to Stillman this spring. Trevor was the Treasurer for the club, and used his accounting background to handle the finances for the club.

Mr. Carlson received Cum Altus Factum; was an Illinois State Scholar and won the Scholastic Achievement Award. He also participated on the SVHS baseball team for four years, being the starting 2nd baseman/shortstop all four years. He also participated in Scholastic Bowl.

It is with great pride that the SVHS Business Department awards Trevor Carlson this prestigious award.
