Overview
There are many ways to create and test moods and emotions in an experiment.
This experiment involves a survey that uses three validated measures.
The Positive and Negative Affect Scale (PANAS): A measurement of a person's current mood.
College Student Stress Scale (CSSS): A measure of a person's current stress levels.
International Affective Picture System (IAPS). A collection of images that have been rated for valence (positive vs negative emotions), arousal, and dominance. They were developed by the University of Florida. The IAPS is rated using a scale called Self-Assessment Manikin (SAMs), which uses visual representations. In this experiment, you will use the following SAM images when rating 18 images from the IAPS.
SAM system for rating emotional valence when looking at IAPS images. To what degree does the image make you feel sad or happy.
SAM system for rating arousal when looking at IAPS images. How arousing is the image?

After taking the survey, create a hypothesis about possible results and how measurements might change over time.
Download the Excel spreadsheet and create a graph that shows whether your hypothesis was supported or not supported.
