Welcome, students. My name is Mike Greenberg, and I'll be your instructor for MATH 110A.Â
This course is listed as a hybrid course, but aside from a required in-person midterm and final, the course is entirely online. This course is taught asynchronously, meaning that we will not be meeting regularly over Zoom. Instead, the material is built into Canvas through videos I've created, and you will go through the material on your own time. Each week has 4-5 lessons for you to go through, and each lesson has a homework assignment. There is also a discussion assignment each week, as well as a quiz or a test. You will need to make a schedule for yourself to make sure that you're getting through all of the work before the deadlines.
This is my first time teaching MATH 110A online (though I've taught it in person many times), and I will be working over the summer to get all of the course content up on Canvas. Therefore, I do not have much to display here, except the following:
We will be using open-educational resources (OER) for the online textbook and homework platform that are 100% free to students. You will not need to pay for a textbook, though each student will need a scientific calculator. I recommend the TI-30XIIS, which can usually be found for under $20. You can also borrow a scientific calculator from the library if this cost is prohibitive.
