Course Description
Introduction to a relational dynamic database environment using Microsoft's Access relational database software. Experience creating and modifying business databases, including queries, forms, reports, and macros.
Course Topics - Student Learning Objecives
Plan, create, and modify an Access table with a primary key, fields of all data types, and assign various field properties.
Design, create and modify Access queries using wildcard characters, parameters, calculated fields, and functions.
Design, create and use action queries in Access.
Plan, design, create and use Access forms.
Design, create and modify Access reports.
Create relationships between two tables.

This is a special bundle that includes the e-book plus access to MindTap/SAM Learning Management System. Mindtap/SAM will be used to complete assignments. It is absolutely necessary to have the Mindtap/SAM package in order to complete this course. You must purchase the Mindtap/SAM package within the first two weeks of class. Students who are using Cengage materials for more than one class this semester can use Cengage Unlimited and pay one fee for both classes.
NOTE: Do not purchase a new/used copy of the book without the MindTap package. You must have access to Mindtap in order to complete the assignments.
Do not purchase the materials before the class begins.
Registered students are automatically enrolled in the Immediate Access Program at CCSF. Students receive their course materials on day one and the charge will be put on their student account from the bookstore.

Access to a computer with Microsoft Windows and MS Office 2021/365 installed. CCSF students can download Office 2024/365 for free for Windows. CCSF is providing Microsoft Office to every student free of charge. This means the latest version of Microsoft’s Office productivity suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, Publisher, and Access 365/2024. In addition, there’s 1 (One) TB of online storage with Microsoft’s OneDrive. As long as you’re a student here you’ll be able to use this software for free. MAC users who take this course must use Parallels Desktop 19 for MAC software. Parallels offers exclusive discounts for students currently enrolled in a qualified educational institution. Educational discounts can save users up to 50% off by verifying their eligibility. Be sure and set up a Student Account. This will allow you to install Windows on MAC and install the Windows version of Office. MS Access is not available on the MAC version of Office.
Access to a computer with an internet connection in order to use Canvas which is our course management system for online courses, and MINDTAP Courseware for assignments. Registered students should log into Canvas with their RAM ID to access this course.

Adding the course after the beginning date: On the first day of class students may submit a course add request using their MyRam student account. Upon approval, students may register for the course.
Dropping the Class
If you decide to discontinue this course, it is the student's responsibility to officially drop it to avoid getting no refund, a W symbol, or an unsatisfactory grade. You may also opt for Pass/No Pass.
