Welcome VMD Students!

My name is Tim Harrington and I've been teaching in the Visual Media Design department at City College of San Francisco since 2010 and have had the opportunity to teach 15 different subjects to date, specializing in advanced Graphic Design subjects and 2D Animation.

I was drawn to visual media because as designers we get to be the people who decide what the world looks like. In this ever-evolving field we have many new powerful tools at our disposal, but I believe in a "pencils before pixels" approach to the design process.

Prior to teaching at CCSF I spent a number of years working as a professional Graphic Designer creating print, web, packaging, identity and branding projects for a variety of clients ranging from local non-profits to major corporations. I helped build the design and education program at BAYCAT, a community-based media studio that provides free classes and professional internships for local youth and young adults in the Bayview Hunters Point district of San Francisco.
