VMD 124B: Package Design

Course Information

VMD 124B is a short-term 8-week course exploring package design through practical exercises design projects. In this class we will focus on practical and aesthetic considerations for creating product packaging including visual/identity design, production and building 3-D prototypes.

The pace and scope of the class is intended for advanced design students looking to expand their skills and design portfolio. It is expected that students will already have a solid foundation in software programs such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop and basic hand-drawing skills.

Prerequisites

  • Completed VMD 122: Graphic Design II

  • Recommended Completion VMD 130: Typography I

  • Recommended Completion VMD 131: Typography II

  • At least third semester coursework

Course Format

Biweekly synchronous Zoom meetings, various projects and milestones submitted online through Canvas learning platform.
