About Me

Hello everyone,

My name is Shakif Awsaf, and I am a second-year high school Chemistry teacher at a school serving grades 6–12 in Queens, New York. I am also currently pursuing my Master’s degree in Special Education.

I believe that education is about much more than delivering content. Every student enters the classroom with unique experiences, strengths, and potential. My goal is to create a classroom environment where students feel safe, respected, supported, and encouraged to grow both academically and personally.

I focus heavily on building relationships, trust, and communication with students and families. In my classroom, mistakes are viewed as opportunities for learning, curiosity is encouraged, and students are challenged to think critically and creatively.

Through culturally responsive teaching, hands-on activities, and real-world applications of science, I strive to make chemistry engaging and accessible for all learners.
