Mr. Erdreich - 2021 Moon and Beyond Challenge

Attention all Madison Makers! We will be competing in the 2021 To The Moon and Beyond Challenge hosted by the New Jersey GT program across numerous districts in the state!

Your mission is to choose one item that symbolizes the USA in the 21st century and tell us why it should be one of the 10 items chosen to be left on the moon.

Through this this contest, you can represent the Madison Maker community by designing, creating, and submitting your persuasive and scientifically reasoned video to official NJGT judges who will be awarding trophies and prizes to contestants.

All projects are due no later that 11:59 pm on March 3rd, 2021

Please research culture/the Arts/humanities and that were designed, developed, or created in the USA from the year 2000 to the present. Pick your favorites, then decide which you think would best showcase or represent life in the USA during the 21st century.

Once you've chosen your selection, make your video. Be sure you and your selection or a picture/drawing of your selection are in the video. Your video must convince the committee why you think your selection should be left on the moon, and how it represents 21st century USA.

Your selected item and submission must:

Focus on Culture, Arts, or Humanities
Symbolizes the 21st Century
Made in the United States of America

To submit, all students must complete this submission form to accompany a sponsorship form completed by your teacher (Mr. E). Students must also create a video that meets these requirements:

30 seconds or Less (after introducing yourself)
Should include visual aids
Must convince the committee why your selection is best
Videos should include the following talking points:
- Hi I'm ____ and I'm in ____ grade from ______ school district
- I have chosen _______ to be left on the moon in 2024
- I believe this item should be chosen because...
- It symbolizes the 21st by.....

NJGT Judges will be judging on:

Does the item you picked and the reason you picked it grab our attention? A visual aid is highly recommended.
- - Visual aids could be: holding the actual item up to the camera, showing a photo of the item, showing a sketch or artwork of the item, etc.
- Is the persuasive argument convincing and clear? Are your reasons supported by personal experience, data, or a reputable source?
- Is the presentation engaging and memorable?

Students will also have the opportunity to win prize money in the form of Amazon Gift Cards!

Mr. Erdreich is here to help you complete this project with recommendations or suggestions for your selections and videos, but this is your creation!

Reach out to parents, older siblings, or other family members to help in the construction of arguments and selections.
