Innovation & Design 7, or ID7, is a two-marking period course offered to all 7th graders. ID7 will allow for students to continue to develop skills and abilities in working with the engineering design process in order to solve real-world problems through design challenges. Students will be introduced to more complex processing and prototyping equipment that can be used to develop their prototype solutions. Students will have the opportunity to be trained in order to safely operate processing machinery such as drill presses, hotwire cutters, and bandsaws and other resources utilized by professionals in the field. Students will also learn a variety of CAD software to create designs that will be reproduced using rapid prototyping machinery such as 3D printers and CNC laser cutters. ID7 will act as a foundation for higher level courses students may choose to take in 8th grade.
