Innovation & Design 8, or ID8, is a two-marking period elective course offered to all 8th graders. ID8 will allow for students to apply the skills and abilities that they have obtained in previous TED courses through the development of a capstone project in the STEAM fields. While learning the fundamentals of product design and manufacturing, students in ID8 will determine a real-world problem within the STEAM fields that is affecting the environment, a population of people, or animals in the world. Working in groups, students will research, design, and develop a solution to their problem using a variety of software, processing machinery, and prototyping equipment. Students will then have the opportunity to present their solutions to a panel of experts at the end of the course. ID8 will act as a foundation for higher level courses students may choose to take in high school.
