"The College Funding Coach" Presentation for MHS Families.
Virtually, November 12th at 6:30-8:00 PM
For many families, the high cost of higher education is a daunting proposition. Parents lie awake at night trying to figure out how to afford sending their children to college and still have enough of their hard-earned money to retire one day. Some families have children attending college next year and others have 12 years to plan; but the fears of tackling these monumental and rising costs are the same. The College Funding Coach® is here to help families figure out HOW to pay for it! Through our educational workshop, Little-Known Secrets of Paying for College parents can expect to learn the following:
College funding strategies for parents with students who DO and DO NOT qualify for financial aid
Strategies for parents who are looking to fund their student’s college education without destroying their plans and dreams for retirement
The 13 most popular college funding financial vehicles explained and debunked
How to implement strategies that may allow students to attend out-of-state or private colleges for a lower cost than attending an in-state public
Ways to maximize and increase financial aid eligibility
…and so much more

New Jersey public schools are transitioning to a new required statewide graduation assessment called the New Jersey Graduation Proficiency Assessment (NJGPA) for all students in Grade 11. Students in the classes of 2023, 2024, and 2025 will take the New Jersey Graduation Proficiency Assessment (NJGPA) in grade 11. The assessment will be aligned to New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS) for grade 10 ELA and NJSLS for Algebra I and Geometry. The assessment format will be familiar to students and educators, as it will be delivered on the same platform students use for the current New Jersey Student Learning Assessments (NJSLA).
The state is collaborating on the final accepted pathways for the Class of 2026 and will share that in a Memo come Fall of 2025. As of July 2025, students in the Class of 2026 are expected to meet the passing pathway through the NJGPA or a Portfolio Appeal process (packet of detailed Math /English work for completion during the winter of 2026.) More details will be shared to those students waiting on secondary pathway state updates.
