Dismantle
Dismantle Phase: Schools/departments can answer "yes," or "true" to 3 or more of the statements
We have developed processes to address real differences, tension and consciously try to mend problems with families and students by focusing on the gaps in opportunities and the impact of our actions.
We analyze our school instructional / assessment data to stay focused on the student groups that need us the most and we spend dedicated time focusing on solutions and innovations.
We use our School Improvement Plan to intentionally focus on the racial implications of our actions by looking at climate, BEP and other data, including qualitative data such as empathy interviews or focus groups to keep us grounded to reality.
We actively ask youth and families, especially Black, Indigenous, People of Color to advise us and/or share their perspectives about how we can improve our school.
We have classroom teachers / Department leaders actively examining the curriculum and defining new ways to integrate SEL into lessons and honoring sociopolitical aspects into the curriculum (working to be abolitionists).
