We see that resistance from staff on topics of race, equity and anti-racism has diminished over time but we still have a significant amount of work to do with staff to build a community of anti-racist educators.
Many of our staff are still learning and reflecting on foundational aspects of racism, privilege, identity, sociopolitical and cultural aspects of racism and cultural relevance.
We still need to develop better systems and processes for using our school’s data to develop culturally relevant and anti-racist practices.
If there have been times when harm has been caused with staff, families and/or students of Color, we had inadequate understanding of the impact which resulted in having to work incredibly hard to regain or earn trust.
