Gap/Service Year

If you are thinking about your options after high school, but are not ready to go directly to college, then you might want to consider a gap year or year of service. This is a great way to volunteer your time and gain real-world experiences. A gap year can also help you refocus and discover what your long-term career interests really are. Apprenticeships

What are apprenticeships?

Apprenticeships are training programs that combine structured on-the-job training with related classroom instruction. Apprentices are sponsored by employers, employer associations or labor/management groups, and receive a regular wage during training.

Get started in apprenticeship

Applying to an apprenticeship program is different than applying for a degree program. The process is similar to applying for a job. You may be asked to fill out an application, take an aptitude test and interview for the position. Applications go to the Joint Apprenticeship Committee for that trade, an employer association or an individual employer depending on the trade.
