Welcome to Mac.Rob Explained!

Mac.Rob Explained is an educational podcast for Mac.Rob families, students, and staff that explores - and explains - different elements of the learning experience at our school.

In each episode, Mac.Rob students, staff, and school leaders discuss an area of our school's culture or curriculum - ranging from the goals of our wellbeing programs, to the significance of the Learner Model, to the history of our school. Each podcast is designed to be a stand-alone, bite-sized introduction to its topic, and includes links and resources for further information.

We encourage all members of our school community - students, families, and staff, both new and old - to explore these podcasts, and discover more about their school.

➲ The Learner Model.

Schools have two main functions: To create a sense of belonging by building strong, positive and inclusive communities; and to maximise the learning growth and development of our students, families, and staff. In this episode, we introduce you to the Mac.Rob Learner Model: an invaluable resource for students, families, and teachers that explicitly outlines what effective learning looks like, and how each member of our school community can apply its principles to enhance your students' learning experience at Mac.Rob, and beyond.

➲ Student Wellbeing.

At Mac.Rob, we believe that learning and wellbeing are inextricably linked - students will learn well if they feel well, and they will feel well if they are learning well. Thus, both learning and wellbeing considerations are at the heart of everything we do. In this episode, we explain our approach to student wellbeing - from how we train staff to optimise student wellbeing, to creating classes and programs that allow students to understand and maintain their own wellbeing, to working with families as active participants in our wellbeing approach.

➲ Pallas: Mac.Rob's History.

With almost a centenary of history to its name, the true value of our history isn’t contained in the age of our buildings - it’s in the stories of the people who learn, grow, and connect within them. This is why Pallas, Mac.Rob’s annual magazine, is so important to both understanding and preserving our school’s history and identity. In this episode, we explore the history of our school - from the culture of the traditional owners of the land it stands on, to its conception as part of Victoria’s first public school, to its iconic current form - as well as Pallas magazine: The official record of life at Mac.Rob.
