Infectious Disease Information

There are many different infectious diseases that may affect our students during school. This link: https://health.wyo.gov/publichealth/infectious-disease-epidemiology-unit/disease/ takes you to the Wyoming Department of Health Infectious Disease Epidemiology website where you can navigate through information on varying infectious diseases including COVID-19, Monkeypox, Influenza, and Meningitis. If you have questions regarding school policy or procedure for illness, please contact your school nurse or building principal.

As a reminder:

CDC Recommendations: Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds especially after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.

·       If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Cover all surfaces of your hands and rub them together until they feel dry.

·       Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

·       Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

Put distance between yourself and other people if COVID-19 is spreading in your community. This is especially important for people who are at higher risk of getting very sick.

The Wyoming Department of Health has indicated that symptoms of novel Coronavirus are similar to what someone may experience as the result of seasonal illnesses that routinely spread in the community around this time of year – namely a fever, cough, or shortness of breath. These symptoms on their own are not worrisome and should not cause alarm.

Uinta County School District #6 is in regular contact with the Uinta County Health Department and is continuously monitoring the situation. Up-to-date information can be found on the Wyoming Department of Health website and the CDC website.

Moving forward, our district will monitor absentee rates and continue to consult with the County Health Department about conditions in the county.

The following measures and precautions should be practiced to lessen the spread of all seasonal illnesses — including Coronavirus:

• Cover your nose and mouth with your elbow or a tissue when you cough or sneeze and throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.

• Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective.

• Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth, as germs can more easily gain entrance into your body through those areas.

• Stay home from school, work, and other social gatherings when you are ill. We remind you to be vigilant when it comes to making sure your child or children are healthy as they attend school. *Please keep your student home from school until they are fever free for 24 hours without fever reducing medications.*
