Diwali is the Festival of Lights. Diwali represents the triumph of light over darkness or good over evil. This festival lasts for 5 days and is celebrated in the Hindu, Jain and sikh religions. Diwali is celebrated by decorating homes, lighting diyas, dancing and eating delicious food!
Students learned about the types of traditional Indian dance that are performed during Diwali. They felt that this dance performance represented the joyfulness of Diwali.
Students created Diyas for their Diwali celebration. Diyas are small lanterns lit during Diwali to symbolize bringing light into the world.
Students enjoyed the music of Diwali and chose a song that explains how Diwali is celebrated.
