This is my eleventh year at Chaparral and seventh year in fourth grade. I previously taught kindergarten for three years and first grade for one. Before receiving my teaching credential, I worked as a para-educator in special education at Yerba Buena Elementary School in our district. While there, I received ABA (adaptive behavior analysis) training and learned how to modify lessons and work with a variety of learning styles and needs.
I graduated from Oregon State University with a degree in liberal studies (pre-elementary education) and an emphasis in behavioral sciences. When I moved back home to Southern California, I received my multiple subject teaching credential and Masters degree in teacher leadership from Cal Lutheran University. I've also taken professional development courses from Loyola Marymount to learn more about working different learning styles and building a positive classroom community. I love to learn!
When I'm not teaching, I bake, cook, and read. I love to try a new recipe or get lost in a good book. My eight-year old terrier Frankie and I enjoy watching new shows together and going on long walks (as long as it's not too hot!). Check out some of my other favorites below!
