As the only Olympian god with a mortal mother, "Dionysus was the son of Zeus and Semele," (GreekMythology). Due to the god's mother passing, he was raised in the forest after Zeus "gave birth" to him. Once he had grown up, he met Ariadne on the island known as Naxos and Dionysus, "immediately fell in love with her and married her. They had a happy marriage and Ariadne bore Dionysus famous children including Oenopion, Staphylus, and Thoas," (GreekMythology). While he only had three children with Ariadne, Dionysus had many lovers which resulted in an abundant amount of children, both mortal and immortal.
