Dionysus' celebrations were full of drama, ecstasy, and drinking that took place in Athens, as they had been, "held in the spring when vines would start bearing leaves. It became one of the most important events of the year and its primary focal point was the theater," (GreekMythology). The festivals held in the name of Dionysus led to the creation of countless iconic Greek plays; tragedies, comedies, and satirical plays were some of the many that stemmed from the lively events.
