How Angels on Bareskin is made!
Angels On Bare Skin has been one of our bestselling facial cleansers for years. This solid, low-waste alternative to a traditional bottled cleanser is made with a calming blend of glycerine, rose absolute, chamomile blue oil and lavender oil. For sensitive skin seeking a gentle scrub, it also contains ground almonds and real lavender flowers for light exfoliation. Finally, a touch of kaolin powder provides a thorough, deep-down cleanse. This balancing blend of ingredients makes Angels On Bare Skin perfect for combination skin looking to soften, scrub and absorb oil.
Understanding skin structure
Here's an article about skin structure, to understand natural functions of skin to offer a 5* customer experience, recommending them the right routine, tailor made on their own needs.
An arid environment made from a mixture of sweat and sebum. This protects our skin. The microflora, or friendly bacteria, which live on it, have adapted so they are able to survive even with the constant shedding of skin cells. Keeping this part of the skin in a happy, balanced state is important for great skin. Providing there are no cuts or abrasions, these friendly bacteria kill stone dead any pathogenic microorganisms, or bad bacteria, that land on the skin, in 20 minutes. This is your skin’s immunity.
Each of us has a unique skin microflora, which forms during the first week of our lives. On average there are 5 million aerobic bacteria on each square centimetre of skin that rely on oxygen for survival, growth and reproduction. Everyone who touches a newborn baby over its first seven days of its life give their microflora to the child: parents, midwives, family and, if you’re lucky, anyone with really good skin!
Plump new skin cells are formed at the germinative layer of this part of the skin. As new cells form, the older cells are pushed higher and higher, flattening and drying out in the stratum corneum top layer. Once at the surface these skin cells flake off. This is called desquamation and takes about 28 days on average. The process can take up to 35 days in mature skin. When skin is experiencing eczema or psoriasis desquamation can happen in as little as 14 days, revealing skin cells too soon. The desquamation process also happens at the entrance of pores, leading to blocked pores, blackheads and spots. If dead skin cells are allowed to build up on the surface of the skin, the face looks a dull grey. So, keep cleansing!
Dermis
This inner layer contains blood vessels, nerves, sweat glands, connective tissue, and sebaceous glands. It sits just below the epidermis and contains tough a supportive connective tissue matrix, where nerves and blood vessels are. This part of the skin will contribute greatly to skin’s firmness, as it also houses collagen and elastin, responsible for plumpness and elasticity
Sebaceous Gland
This gland is influenced by hormonal fluctuations, heredity factors, bacteria, lifestyle, what you eat and what you do. It produces sebum around the hair follicles, and ends up on the surface of the skin to help maintain good skin and keep it soft and protected.
Sweat Gland
Tubed and coiled this gland produces sweat that helps to cool the body down. Your body needs to sweat in order to prevent overheating, and to get rid of toxins. If this is prevented, your body just has to work harder sweating in other areas to disperse the heat.
