Everything you need to know about being an EBT Rep, for you and your team!
As an EBT Representative, you will be a champion of engagement to ensure every person at Lush, no matter their role or location, has access to all the latest updates and communication from the business and has also a channel to contribute ideas and to ultimately help leave the world Lusher than we found it!
By being elected, you are part of an amazing community of EBT Reps, who are all incredibly passionate about the ethics of Lush, employee engagement and making sure the voice of their peers reaches the right place.
Your role as an EBT Rep...

And Country Reps...

🖤 Providing they meet the criteria, Country Reps also have the opportunity to be elected as the next staff-elected Trustee
Examples of how to get started...
Grab a slot in your team meetings to collate and story tell any company updates that have come through via the We are Lush and company newsletters: to inspire and enable these messages to reach all corners of the business
Check-in with your constituents that they know the importance of engaging with the latest company news and updates
Make sure there is a printed copy of the Lush Insider available in your constituent's communal area. Please reach out to the EBT Team if you do not currently have access to a copy
Print out the weekly WEARELUSH newsletter and display it in communal spaces with quick links to The Colleague Centre for teams to access all of the latest info
These handy QR codes are a great way to make print-outs accessible and interactive for all!
Make sure a printed copy of the Lush Ethical Charter Poster is visible in communal areas - ideally in A3 or larger and in colour
Create a copy of the editable EBT Rep Poster to have on display, so everyone knows who their Rep is and where to find you

Representing the voice of your peers is a great privilege, but we know it may also be a little daunting...Â
Have you ever found yourself asking:
"Who should I share this with?"
"Who should answer this question?"
"How can I make sure this reaches the right person?"
Don't panic! You're not expected to have all the answers, just to share with the right people to ensure every member of staff is heard, their opinions are considered and that they receive a response that demonstrates that.
You have support at your fingertips! Your fellow EBT Reps will always be happy to share advice on how to manage a specific question or idea. If in doubt, please contact the Lush EBT Team at ebt@lush.co.uk, who will ensure your question or idea reaches the right person. Please feel free to share in your local language.
To be clear, the EBT is not the place to raise management issues. Staff should first discuss such issues with their manager to find a solution or speak to their local People team contact if further support is needed.
EBT Rep Code of Conduct
This code of conduct sets the standard for behaviours expected to be exercised in your role as an EBT Rep and will help you to make the right decisions in your role.
THE VOICE OF MANY
Remember you have a voice for many, so always listen, consider and speak on behalf of all those you represent. Remember you are not sharing your own opinion so try to recognise personal biases and remain impartial where possible.Â
HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY
EBT Reps should be honest and reliable, and should meet their roles and responsibilities with due care. The Lush EBT fosters a culture of mutual trust and commitment. EBT Reps should help and support one another where necessary.
OPEN COMMUNICATION
EBT Reps should ensure a climate of freedom, where communication can occur freely and openly. EBT Reps can help to create a safe space for all to share suggestions and ideas to positively contribute to the business. Along with your manager you can work on creating channels that work for your team to manage this communication.Â
ACTIVE INCLUSIVITY
We welcome and support people of all backgrounds and identities. This includes, but is not limited to the 9 protected characteristics. We actively seek to make steps towards becoming a more inclusive environment through consideration of reasonable adjustments.
SEEK DIVERSITYÂ
You may need to actively seek feedback from certain groups. Listen and allow ALL to share their thoughts in a constructive manner. Through diversity, comes diversity of thought!
R.E.S.P.E.C.T - BE RESPECTFUL
The nature of the EBT means we are dealing with a lot of differing points of view. You will not always agree but you must respect the views of your peers in a respectful manner and help elevate their voice, no matter their opinions.
We will all experience frustration from time to time, but we cannot allow frustration to become personal attacks. An environment where people feel uncomfortable or threatened is not a productive or creative one.
BE HELPFUL
As a Rep we have a duty of care to our colleagues. If something falls outside of the EBT remit, we must signpost them to someone who can best support them with a query or idea. You do not need to have all the answers, but you can support people to find them.Â
CONFIDENTIAL SPACE
Create a safe and confidential space for people to freely share their views. Information that has been provided in confidence should not be disclosed except as intended by the person who has shared the information.Â
BE A CHANGE MAKER
The EBT is there to encourage our colleagues to share their opinions and voice. The voice or opinions you may hear, may not always be constructive. Constructive feedback and solution focused suggestions are much easier to convert into action. Helping to share the ideas, feedback and suggestions of your peers to deliver to the business in a solution focused, respectful way is of the upmost importance.
PASSING THE BATON
If you move position within or leave the business, you will need to promote your alternate to replace you or support a re-election, and notify your Business Area/Country Rep.
Just so you know: you can also check out our handy EBT Glossary for definitions of new terms and language we may be using here.
