The CW EBT is supported by a team of four people in the UK, and two people in North America. Our specific focus is on the smooth running and future development of the Lush and Cosmetic Warriors Employee Benefit Trusts.

Our Workstreams
We have five core streams of work to ensure the EBT is managed to deliver what it is intended to for Lush Colleagues and the business:
🤍 Governance and Best Practice
🤍 EBT Operations
🤍 Communication and Engagement of the EBT
🤍 Championing Employee Voice
🤍 Being all-round Employee Ownership champions!
Supporting Trustees
Operationally, we support our Trustees in a multitude of ways, from compiling information for them to look at, to arranging and facilitating Trustee meetings. We plan and organise the Group wide elections, where every employee in the Lush Group is able to stand for election as an EBT Rep, and be in with a chance to be elected onto our EBT Trustee board!
We arrange regular meet ups and provide support and networking opportunities to help develop our Group network EBT Representatives, enabling them to be the best they can be.
Employee Ownership is so new to Lush and there are many businesses who have been employee owned in some way for 100s of years in some cases. We take as much time as possible to learn about the role of employee ownership and employee voice in other businesses to help refine our best practice and learn new ways of doing things.
Supporting the buisness
The EBT is still a relatively new area for the business and can be a little tricky to understand as a new concept, so global communication to further awareness and education of the Lush EBT is super important. We host Lush Immersion sessions, training sessions, and 1-2-1 sessions with key stakeholders and Colleagues in the business to keep the conversation going!
Internal communication
We work alongside our colleagues focused on Internal Business Communication to collaboratively create The Lush Insider, which is now our key piece of EBT communication circulated Group-wide to hopefully become the one-stop shop for business insights, inside news and updates on matters of interest to our Group Colleagues.
Our work championing the Employee Voice involves ensuring every opinion and idea that come through to the Lush EBT is shared with key decision makers in the business and our EBT Trustees where relevant to contribute to the voice of many, providing insight into how our staff are feeling and what change they’d like to see happening in the business.
The EBT as a legal Trust
The Lush Employee Benefit Trust is a legal entity that holds company shares on behalf of our Lush Colleagues, who are all beneficiaries of the Lush EBT. When the Lush EBT was established, a set of binding agreements were issued between the Lush Shareholders and the Lush EBT Trustees to govern how the Trust should be managed and looked after on behalf of the beneficiaries including governing rules that enforce the core principles and benefits of the Lush EBT for our staff:
• Protecting the independent ownership of the Lush
• Enshrining Lush’s ethics through The Lush Ethical Charter
• Maintaining the Lush bonus culture - ensuring every permanent Lush Group employee has access to a bonus scheme.
From a governance perspective, we ensure that we are meeting all of our legal obligations, such as ensuring the Trust is managed in compliance with governing rules of the Lush EBT Trust Deed and Operating Agreement, and the Lush Ethical Charter.
