The program focuses on moving students from basic technology users to more confident digital creators. Students learn to create digital artwork, produce and edit documents, use keyboard shortcuts and common toolbar tools, improve their typing skills, and explore coding concepts through engaging activities. Alongside these practical skills, students build a stronger technology vocabulary and continue learning how to make safe, respectful, and responsible choices in digital environments. These skills prepare students for more advanced productivity tools, digital design, coding, and technology projects in Grade 4.
Digital Technology develops students’ ability to create, communicate, and solve problems using digital tools. Students are introduced to MS Paint to develop creativity and basic digital drawing skills, while MS Word lessons teach them how to create and format simple documents using toolbar features and essential keyboard shortcuts. Students continue building typing speed and accuracy through Typing.com and strengthen their coding and computational thinking skills through Code.org. Students also expand their technology vocabulary and develop responsible digital citizenship through lessons on online safety, privacy, respectful communication, and responsible technology use.
