PATRIOTISM - love that people feel for their country
PLEDGE - a solemn promise
DECLARATION - something that is stated or made known in an official or public way
PREAMBLE - a statement that is made at the beginning of something (such as a legal document) and usually gives the reasons for the parts that follow
UNALIENABLE - cannot be taken away or denied
UNALIENABLE RIGHTS - the basic rights people are born with, also called natural rights
ESTABLISH - to begin or create something that is meant to last for a long time
JUSTICE - the process or result of using laws to fairly judge and punish crimes and criminals
COMMON DEFENSE - protection of all, including non-noble citizens
ORDAIN - to officially establish or order something
AMENDMENT - a change in the words or meaning of a law or document (such as a constitution)
ALLEGIANCE - loyalty or commitment to a group or cause
INDEPENDENCE - freedom from outside control or support : the state of being independent
CONSTITUTION - a document that describes the system of beliefs and laws by which a country, state, or organization is governed
EQUALITY - the quality or state of being equal : the quality or state of having the same rights, social status, etc.
UNION - a group of states or nations that are ruled by one government or that agree to work together
DOMESTIC TRANQUILITY - peace among the states, or at home
WELFARE - the state of being happy, healthy, or successful
LIBERTY - the state or condition of people who are able to act and speak freely; the power to do or choose what you want to; a political right
PRINCIPLE - a moral rule or belief that helps you know what is right and wrong and that influences your actions; a basic truth or theory

Columbus Day is a U.S. holiday that is celebrated on the second Monday of October. It commemorates the arrival of Christopher Columbus in the New World (the Americas) on October 12, 1492. It was unofficially celebrated in a number of cities and states as early as the 18th century but did not become a federal holiday until the 1937.
