Staff Development and Training of Future Teachers

  • Performance Based Teacher Evaluation Team) (2011-2012) Involved in the creation and implementation of new teacher evaluation standards for the Lee’s Summit School District
  • Text-Mentor for Avila University (1998-2012) Classroom teacher in a program allowing education students to observe “Master Teachers” in their classroom environment on a regular basis.
  • Breakout Session MCSS Conference (Multiple years) Presented session on gaining and maintaining student attention while increasing enthusiasm for social studies. Methods used are application from recent brain research.
  • Open Classroom Teacher for Avila University (2003-present) Avail my classroom to education students for various observation needs. These observations are required for courses on classroom discipline, reading strategies, student assessment, and instructional strategies.
  • District Social Studies Curriculum Committee (2005–2009) Develops grade level social studies curriculum including common assessments and modifications to Advanced Studies program.
  • New Teacher Mentor (1998-2009) Mentored eight new teachers on curriculum, procedures, classroom management, instructional strategies and numerous other topics.
