In a unit on motion, freshmen physics students used the iPad, the Sphero robotic ball, Huddle Technique slow-motion video app, and measurement devices in an immersive, collaborative experience which allowed students to see physical movement in different ways.
These learning tools have applications across disciplines, including introducing all freshmen students to basic coding and computer science, as students change the Sphero’s colors, draw paths, program accelerations, falls, loops, and jumps. In this way, technology fosters a concrete experience for students unimaginable before.
As a final cross-curricular endeavor, students presented their findings to the class, to strengthen presentation skills.
