This region is made up by the states Nevada, Colorado, California, Arizona, Utah, and Texas. The climate is very dry and humid. There is little water found in this area. Nevertheless, some of the area is good for farming. One of the tribes living in this region was the Hopi.
Shelter
Native Americans living in this region lived in houses called adobes or pueblos. These were permanent homes made from clay, wood and brush. They homes are built on cliffs and look like apartment buildings. Some of these had several levels.
Food
Native Americans in this region were farmers and hunters. They grew crops such as beans, sunflowers, squash and corn. They also raised sheep, goats and wild turkeys. All of these items were used for food. Sheep were an especially important resource for these Indians.
Clothing
Native Americans living in this region used cotton or sheep wool to make their clothing. Women wore cotton dresses called mantas. Men wore breech cloths or short skirts.
