This region is made up of Nebraska, North and South Dakota, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Kansas. It was located between the Rocky Mountains and the Mississippi River. Some of the Native American tribes that were found here were the Blackfoot, Sioux, and the Pawnee.
Shelter
Native Americans living in this region lived in earthen lodges. These were permanent dwellings that were not moved. They were made with grass and wooden poles. They were usually located near water. Tepees were also a shelter used by the Native Americans living here. They were made from buffalo hides. Tepees were easy to move from place to place.
Food
Native Americans in this region were farmers and hunters. There were a lot of buffalo found here. It was a main source of food. They also hunted deer and elk. Some of the Indians were farmers. They grew crops of corn, beans and squash.
Clothing
Native Americans living in this region used buffalo to make their clothing. They also made clothes from deer hides. Men wore breech cloths and leather leggings. Women wore dresses.
