Vocal Music

Students performing the National Anthem at a Sacramento River Cats game on May 4, 2023

Welcome to our Vocal Music page!

We provide experiential opportunities for students in 4th - 8th grades to develop their vocal skills and stage presence.  We will perform at various community events throughout the year, as well as Fall and Spring concerts to showcase our growth and music repertoire.  Performances will include unison and part singing, as well as opportunities to audition for solos. Students who choose to participate in Vocal Ensemble need to have a parent/guardian register them for enrollment by clicking on the following google form link:

Rehearsal Schedule:

Students rehearse ONE DAY EACH WEEK BEFORE SCHOOL.  The schedule has changed from last year in order to include a weekly rehearsal at Ophir School.  Please make sure your student comes to rehearsal on the correct day each week!

Mondays

Franklin/Loomis Basin - Students meet at 7:15-8:05 am in the Franklin music room.

Tuesdays

Penryn - Students meet at 7:20-8:10 am in the Spanish room (room 9).

Wednesdays

Loomis Grammar/H. Clarke Powers - Students meet at 7:20-8:10 am in the LGS music room (room 26). HCP students will be bussed back to their campus at 8:10 (same bus as band students returning from Penryn).  If HCP enrollment exceeds bus availability, parents will be informed of the need to provide transportation to/from rehearsals.

Thursdays

Ophir - Students meet at 7:30-8:20 am in the music room.

Fridays

Placer - Students meet at 7:20-8:10 in the Stem Lab (not on stage!).

ALL STUDENTS REMEMBER:  No School on your singing day? NO class.  Minimum day on your singing day? YES, there is class.

We are actively recruiting new singers at each school site.  If your student is a returning singer, they should have received 2 official invitations to join our group to share with friends.  If they bring in 2 new singers, they will get a special reward from me - a small bluetooth speaker in the design of their choice!  The more the merrier around here, so we hope to grow our singing power by leaps and bounds this year!

This year, I will be choosing 2 Assistant Conductors for each school site.  They will get the chance to help lead warm-ups, sectional rehearsals, and perhaps even conduct a song in a future show!  If your student is interested, they can fill out a brief interest form that will be posted on our google classroom page once school has started.  I'm so excited to help train the future music directors of tomorrow! ~ Mrs. Pabst
